Mass Effect fans will be disappointed at the lack of Mass Effect: Andromeda news, but it’s hard to fault BioWare for wanting to do something positive with N7 Day. The team at BioWare shared their vision for the event on the company’s blog:
The decision to omit information about Mass Effect: Andromeda is most likely a smart one considering how much focus is currently on major upcoming titles like Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront. Rather than try and cut through the noise, BioWare is presumably waiting for things to quiet down before firing up the hype train for their next sequel to the choose-your-own-adventure sci-fi RPG.
That being said, Mass Effect fans still look forward to N7 Day every year as a time to connect with the series’ developers and fellow fans, so it’s important that BioWare take advantage of gamer attention. Last year, the studio held a “developer roundtable” on Twitch to provide details about Mass Effect: Andromeda and show off a handful of concept art pieces.
Although this year won’t include any new information about Mass Effect: Andromeda, there’s little doubt it will be successful for BioWare. The developer understands how to make the most of the day, so there will be a lot for fans to look forward to, especially considering BioWare’s promise for some “surprises” during the livestream.
It’ll be fun to see how far viewers get through Mass Effect 3: Citadel on Twitch on N7 Day, and if BioWare continues the stream beyond Saturday. Twitch viewers have shown their aptitude for completing difficult and long games on Twitch having made it through Pokemon and Dark Souls.
