According to Satoru Iwata, 2013 may be the year to break Nintendo’s cycle. The president of Nintendo explained in a recent interview that there are several, brand-new games on their way:

Iwata seems hopeful for the future, but has acknowledged issues like the canned Wii vitality sensor, which was taken off production due to testing issues. Nintendo has always worked hard to push boundaries and venture into new territory, and hopefully its plans for the Wii U will pay off.

It’s hard to say what Nintendo could have in store for Wii U owners, but their contribution to last month’s E3 has shown interesting updates to existing franchises - namely Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Could entirely new IPs be on the way? If so, what kinds of titles could push the limits of the Wii U’s hardware and functionality? It looks like we won’t know what Nintendo’s planning for a little while longer, but as soon as it’s revealed, you can bet Game Rant will be there to talk about it! Ranters, let us know what you think in the comment section below!
